At Least 6 Killed as Opera Troupe Truck Overturns in Mayurbhanj District

Baripada: At least six persons lost their lives and a dozen others were seriously injured when a truck of a Dhauli Gananatya Jatra troupe overturned at Bangiriposi Ghat stretch on National Highway 49 in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.

As per reports, the ill-fated truck of the Dhauli Gananatya was transporting lights and other instruments worth lakhs of rupees. This truck was going from Rairangpur to Jaleswar.

It is suspected that while taking a turn on the ghat road the driver of the vehicle lost control and the truck veered off the road to overturn.

Locals rushed to the spot to rescue the victims of the accident.

Police also reached the spot to investigate. The injured were admitted to the Bangiriposi Hospital.
