Bandh in Kantabanji Demanding District Status

Balangir: A 12-hour bandh demanding district status to Kantabanji in Balangir district affected normal life in the area on Tuesday.

This bandh call was given by Kantabanji Zilla Sangharsh Samiti. More than 20 organizations of the area extended support to this dawn-to-dusk bandh call.

Because of this bandh, educational institutions and business establishments remained closed in Kantabanji town. Vehicular traffic was also affected.

Despite the rains protestors moved around the town blocking roads and holding demonstrations for their demand. They are to hand over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the Kantabanji Tahasildar regarding their demand.

Kantabanji is yet to get sub-division status. Kantabanji is eligible to become a separate district from all perspectives,” said Seshdev Patel, President of Kantabanji Zilla Sangharsh Samiti.
