Berhampur Court Sentences 8 Persons to Life Imprisonment in 2017 Murder Case

Berhampur: The Court of Additional District & Sessions Judge-1 of Ganjam sentenced eight persons to life imprisonment in a murder case they had committed in 2017. These eight persons were convicted for killing a man named M Gudu Patra at Ambagarh village under Berhampur Sadar police station limits on September 18, 2017.

As per the chargesheet, the convicts attacked Patra with sharp weapons. Critically injured Patra succumbed to the injuries during treatment at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

Police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the eight persons.

The court examined 19 witnesses and other evidence during the trial to convict and punish these eight persons. The convicts have been lodged in jail since September of 2017 as the court always rejected their bail pleas.
