BJP Retains Power in Arunachal Pradesh, Wins 46 Seats in Assembly Polls

Itanagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh, marking its third consecutive term in office.

According to Election Commission officials, the BJP secured victory in 36 out of 60 assembly seats, ensuring a clear majority. Vote counting is currently underway for the 50 contested seats, which were part of the state’s elections held concurrently with the Lok Sabha polls on April 19.

Notably, Chief Minister Pema Khandu is among the 10 candidates who secured their seats without opposition. Compared to the 2019 elections where the BJP secured 41 seats, this election saw a slight decrease in their tally.

The National People’s Party (NPP) secured three seats and is leading in an equal number of constituencies. Meanwhile, the People’s Party of Arunachal and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) each secured two and one seats respectively.

The Congress and an Independent candidate are leading in one seat each as per the latest updates from election officials.
