BJP Yuva Morcha Observes Dawn to Dusk Bandh in Nabarangpur Dist

Nabarangpur: The BJP Yuva Morcha has given the call for a dawn-to-dusk bandh in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Tuesday to protest against the delay in land acquisition by the Odisha government for the Jeypore-Nabarangpur railway project.

The BJP Yuva Morcha activists blocked roads at different places in Nabarangpur town. They also stopped the traffic on NH-26 near Majhiguda. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of their road blockade.

The protestors picketed at various places in the district in an effort to close down offices and educational institutions.

Shops and business establishments remained closed in most parts of the district because of the bandh call. But emergency services were excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

The protesters alleged that although the Central government allocated funds for the railway project eight years ago, the State government has failed to provide the land for the purpose, which has delayed the execution of the railway project.

They also demanded the State government to officially recognize Nabarangpur College and Pendrani College at Umerkote as government colleges.
