Buffalo Theft in 1965, Maharashtra Man Arrested by Karnataka Police After 58 Yrs

Bengaluru: Karnataka Police have arrested an accused who had stolen buffaloes in 1965. The accused identified as Ganapathy Vittal Vagore of Udagir in Maharashtra was arrested 58 years after he committed the theft.

Vagore, now in an advanced age was only 20 years old when he stole the buffaloes. His accomplice in the theft Kishan Chandar died in 2006. So, the case against him was closed.

On April 25, 1965, one Muralidharrao Manikrao Kulkarni of Mehkar in Karnataka had lodged a complaint with police about the theft of his two buffaloes and a calf.

In 1965, the police arrested Kishan Chandar and Ganapathy Vittal Vagore in connection with the case. However, after getting bail, both accused absconded and did not attend the court proceedings.

The police, not able to find the accused, had filed a long pending report (LPR). Recently Bidar police formed a special team to crack all LPR cases. This team tracked down the accused after 58 years.
