MP Police Initiate Legal Action Following Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘50% Commission’ Allegation

Bhopal: The Indore Police has booked the social media handlers of senior Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Kamal Nath, and Arun Yadav for allegedly sharing a fake letter on X that claimed contractors in Madhya Pradesh were forced to pay a 50% commission to the state government.

The letter, which was attributed to Gyanendra Awasthi, was shared by the Congress leaders on Friday. It alleged that contractors were being forced to pay the commission before their payments were released.

Nimesh Pathak, the local BJP’s legal cell convener, filed a complaint against the Congress leaders, accusing them of spreading misleading information and tarnishing the state government’s image.

An FIR was registered against the Congress leaders under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating) and 469 (forgery with intent to harm reputation).

The police are currently verifying the authenticity of the Twitter handles associated with the Congress leaders.
