Cop Attached to Tendulkar’s Security Shoots Himself: Report

Mumbai: A jawan of the Maharashtra State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), who was attached to the security of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, allegedly shot himself dead at his home in Jamner town.

The deceased was identified as Prakash Kapde (39). He was on leave to visit his ancestral place. As per reports, he shot himself in the neck with his service gun. He is survived by his aged parents, wife and two minor children, a brother and his family members.

According to police sources, this incident occurred at around 1:30 am on Wednesday at the victim’s home. An investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind his alleged suicide.

The SRPF is expected to conduct an independent inquiry into the incident.
