Cyclone Michaung Weakens, Orange Warning for Rains in 3 Odisha Districts  

Bhubaneswar: As aftereffect of Cyclone Michaung which has weakened after landfall in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, orange warning for heavy rains has been given for three South Odisha districts on Wednesday by the regional center of meteorological department in Bhubaneswar. The IMD has also issued yellow warning for rains for five other districts.

But there is no cyclone threat in Odisha.

The districts under orange warning on Wednesday include Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada. They are likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts are under yellow alert for Wednesday.

For Thursday, there is yellow warning for rains in districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada. Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.

Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada received very heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.

The Gajapati district administration has announced the closure of all schools on Wednesday because of possible heavy rains. All the primary, upper primary, high schools and anganwadi centres will remain closed.
