Dalit Woman Stripped, Son Killed Over Daughter’s Assault Case in MP

Bhopal: A Dalit youngster was allegedly beaten to death by a mob of hundreds over a harassment case filed by his sister in 2019 in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. The mother of the deceased was stripped naked by the attackers when she tried to save her son. His sister was also beaten up.

Local police have charged nine persons with murder and three have been booked under the stringent Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes Act. Till now police have arrested eight persons in relation to this gruesome incident.

The mob was pressing the 18-year-old sister of the victim to withdraw her sexual harassment case. When she did not agree, the mob attacked the Dalit family.

In 2019, the victim’s sister filed a case against four men, accusing them of threatening and beating her.

The opposition Congress and BSP slammed the BJP government in MP over this incident. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The BJP has made Madhya Pradesh a laboratory of Dalit atrocities.”

State Congress chief Kamal Nath demanded financial assistance for the victim’s family and claimed the accused had links with the BJP.
