Death Toll in Mizoram Bridge Collapse Reaches 23, Search Operation Ends

New Delhi: The search operation following the collapse of an under-construction railway bridge at Sairang in Mizoram was called off on Friday following the recovery of the last body. The death toll in this bridge collapse accident reached 23.

The search operation was called off after the ABCI Infrastructures Pvt Ltd, the company executing the Bairabi-Sairang BG project  informed the administration that all bodies/injured persons in the mishap had been searched out.

The last body recovered on Friday was of 49-year-old Sainul Haque from Malda district in Bengal. All 23 deceased were from Malda.

The overhead structure fell from a height of about 60 metres.
