Dinesh Phadnis, the Fredricks of “C.I.D.” Passes Away at 57

Mumbai: Actor Dinesh Phadnis, who was popular for his role as Fredricks in the popular TV show ‘C.I.D’, passed away at the age of 57 in Mumbai on Monday night.

He was admitted to Tunga Hospital in suburban Mumbai a few days ago. His CID co-star Aditya Srivastava confirmed the news. Dinesh Phadnis’ last rites were held in Borivali East on Tuesday morning.

Cine And TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) paid tribute to the actor on social media. Apart from his popular role in the TV show CID, Dinesh Phadnis also appeared in films like Sarfarosh and Mela, both starring Aamir Khan. Dinesh Phadnis also featured in the Hrithik Roshan film Super 30.

He was also seen in other TV shows like CID: Special Bureau, Adaalat, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and CIF.

TV show CID, which first aired in 1997, was based on solving murder mysteries lead by Shivaji Satam (ACP Pradyuman), Senior Inspectors Aditya Srivastava (Abhijeet) and Dayanand Shetty (Daya) in lead roles. The show successfully aired for 1500 episodes.
