Drug Racket Operating from Khordha Jail Busted, 7 Arrested, 9 Mobile Phones Seized

Khordha: A drug racket operating from the jail was busted by the Khordha police. The investigating police officials seized nine mobile phones from the inmates of Khordha jail. These phones were being used to manage drug trafficking in Khordha and other places.

The police personnel also arrested seven accused including a woman in relation to the case. They allegedly supplied the mobile phones inside the jail and were peddling brown sugar in Khordha town.

Interrogation of four hardened criminals lodged in Khordha jail, who were taken on remand, revealed this drugs trafficking racket managed from the jail. The police raided the Khordha jail and recovered nine more mobile phones.

The seven arrested persons were supplying SIM cards, phones and other logistics to their gang members inside the jail, police sources said.

According to police sources, at present, more than 100 brown sugar peddlers and dealers are incarcerated in the Khordha jail.
