ED Raids Tamil Nadu Minister and His MP Son

Chennai: Officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the premises of DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy and his MP son Gautham Sigamani in a money laundering case, on Monday.

The raids were conducted at the premises of Ponmudy and Gautham in Chennai and Villupuram.

According to sources, the ED is investigating a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities during the tenure of Ponmudy as the Tamil Nadu mining minister between 2007 and 2011. It was alleged that violation of quarry licence conditions during this period led to a loss of Rs 28 crore to the exchequer.

The ED had recently arrested senior DMK leader and TN Transport Minister Senthil Balaji in a money laundering case.
