Elon Musk To Meet PM Modi This Month, May Announce Tesla’s Plans in India: Reports

New Delhi: Tesla CEO Elon Musk is slated to visit India later this month for a significant meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as reported by Reuters, citing insider sources. During his visit, Musk is expected to unveil plans for substantial investments in the country, including the establishment of a new factory.

According to reports, Musk will meet PM Modi in New Delhi during the last week of April, where he is also anticipated to disclose Tesla’s ambitious ventures in India. Previously, it was speculated that Tesla representatives would explore potential sites for a manufacturing plant, indicating an investment of approximately $2 billion.

Reports suggest that Tesla may seek a local partner to facilitate its operations in India. Sources indicated discussions between Tesla and Reliance Industries for a potential joint venture aimed at constructing the manufacturing facility.

While details are still evolving, it is rumoured that Reliance Industries could play a pivotal role in establishing the manufacturing plant and supporting infrastructure for Tesla in India. Talks have been ongoing for over a month, indicating significant progress towards a partnership.

The company is considering various locations for the plant, with Maharashtra emerging as a frontrunner due to its favourable port facilities, crucial for both domestic production and exports.
