Ex-MLA Jayanarayan Mohanty No More

Bhubaneswar: Former Jaleswar MLA Jayanarayan Mohanty breathed his last on Saturday. He was 74.

He was suffering from multiple ailments related to ageing for a long time. On December 28, 2023, Mohanty was admitted to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he passed away on Saturday morning.

Mohanty was a strong leader of the Congress. He was elected twice to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Jaleswar. He won from the seat for the first time in 1995 and also retained the seat in 2000. Later on, he joined the BJP in 2019.
