Ex-MP of Bargarh Prabhas Singh Leaves BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former Lok Sabha MP of Bargarh Prabhas Singh resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday. He also resigned from the BJD’s district president post.

According to sources, he took this decision after he was denied a BJD party ticket to contest in the 2024 elections in Odisha.

He sent his resignation letter to the BJD chief Naveen Patnaik.

Prabhas Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 from Bargarh. He was aspiring to contest from the Bargarh Lok Sabha seat again. But the BJD chose Parineeta Mishra as its MP candidate from Bargarh.

Apart from Singh, BJD leader and Birmaharajpur block chairman Shanti Luha also resigned from the primary membership of the party. Shanti’s husband Narayan Luha also resigned from the BJD on Monday.
