Fake Certificate Case: 4 Govt Teachers Terminated in Balangir Dist

Balangir: Balangir district administration in Odisha terminated the services of four government teachers who had allegedly used fake educational certificates to get appointed. The dismissed teachers were Sanjit Pani Mahanand, Mrinmayee Panda, Biranchi Prasad Nayak and Alma Toppo.

Mrinmayee Panda, a Hindi teacher posted at Randa High School, was arrested on August 10 following a complaint filed against her by the District Education Officer (DEO) at the Balangir Town police station. She had used a fake B.Ed certificate to get an appointment in 2013.

The other three teachers are absconding to escape arrest.

Police have written to the banks to freeze the accounts of these fake teachers.

According to sources, certificates of more than 400 teachers in the Balangir district have been sent for verification by the Education Department.
