Google Renames Bard as Gemini, Launches Gemini App

Google has announced a major rebranding and enhancement of its AI chatbot, Bard, which will now be known as Gemini. This move aligns with the company’s strategy to integrate its advanced AI models into a unified ecosystem. Gemini Advanced, powered by the Ultra 1.0 model, promises improved capabilities for longer and more contextually rich conversations, along with enhanced proficiency in tasks like advanced coding.

To access Gemini Advanced, users can subscribe to the new Google One AI Premium Plan for $19.99/month, which includes a two-month free trial. This upgrade offers additional features such as multimodal support, interactive coding, and deeper analysis tools.

Gemini Advanced is initially available in English across 150 countries and territories, with plans to expand to other languages. Google intends to integrate Gemini models into various products like Workspace and Google Cloud, enabling users to leverage AI capabilities in applications such as Gmail, Docs, and Google Assistant.

The Gemini app is now available for download on Android and will soon be accessible through Google Assistant. Initially launching in the U.S. in English, Gemini will gradually roll out to more regions and languages, including Japanese and Korean, in the coming weeks.
