Govt Teacher Suspended for Participating in Election Campaign in Boudh District

Boudh: A teacher of a government school, Sanghamitra Mallick was suspended for participating in the election campaign rally of a political party in Boudh district.

The Boudh Collector and District Election Officer took this disciplinary action against the erring assistant teacher of Government Nodal High School, Dahya. Sanghamitra Mallick was put under suspension with immediate effect.

She was alleged of violating the model code of conduct of the Election Commission of India.

As per the ECI order dated March 15, 2024, and Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, no government servant shall be a member of or be otherwise associated with any political or communal party or any organisation which takes part in politics or communal activities, nor shall he/she take part or subscribe in aid of assist in any other manner, any political or communal movement or activity.

According to reports, two days back, Sanghamitra Mallick had participated in a political rally taken out from Palaspat to Ambagaon in Kantamal Assembly Constituency in Boudh district. This was considered as a gross violation of guidelines set by the ECI for the ensuing General Elections.
