Gunfight on Aligarh Muslim Univ Campus, 3 Youths Injured

Aligarh: Three youths sustained bullet injuries in a violent clash between two rival groups on Aligarh Muslim University in UP on Monday night. According to reports, the warring groups were from two separate hostels of the university.

The injured were Sadiq, Firoz Alam, and Abdullah. They were admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.

According to police sources, the three injured were AMU students. But the university authorities claimed they were outsiders.

The Monday night violent clash occurred at V M Hall of the university. A short while later, a group of armed youths barged into Sir Syed Hall (North) where a gunfight ensued and three youths were shot and wounded.

It is suspected that this gunfight was related to an old rivalry between two student groups.

On Tuesday a group of protesting students blocked the two main gates of Aligarh Muslim University campus, forcing the varsity authorities to divert traffic to Faiz Gate and Sir Syed House Gate, which normally remain closed.
