Hemant Soren Moves SC Against Rejection of His Bail Plea by Jharkhand HC

New Delhi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren approached the Supreme Court on Monday against the Jharkhand High Court order rejecting his bail plea in a money-laundering case.

Representing Soren, his legal counsel Kapil Sibal mentioned Soren’s petition before a Bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud seeking urgent listing of the plea.

The Jharkhand High Court on Friday denied bail to him and dismissed his petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31. He is now lodged at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi under judicial custody.
