Rohit Sharma Leads ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year, 6 Indian Players Included

Dubai: Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has been appointed captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year, which includes five other Indian players – Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav.

The team prominently features finalists Australia and India, along with players from semi-finalists New Zealand and South Africa.

The opening pair consists of Rohit Sharma, who scored 1,255 runs last year, and Shubman Gill, the highest run-scorer in ODIs with 1,584 runs, including a notable 208 against New Zealand. Travis Head, consistent throughout the year, holds the number three spot, with a standout performance of 137 runs in the World Cup final.

The middle order features Virat Kohli, the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs with 1,337 runs, including six centuries. Daryl Mitchell, who scored 1,204 runs with five centuries, Heinrich Klaasen, and Marco Jansen complete the middle-order lineup.

The bowling attack includes Adam Zampa, who claimed 38 wickets with a notable four-for in three successive World Cup fixtures. Indian bowlers Mohammed Siraj (44 wickets), Kuldeep Yadav (49 wickets), and Mohammed Shami, with four fifers and a best of seven for 57 against New Zealand, complete the formidable lineup.

Notably, no Indian player secured a place in the ICC’s women’s team of the year.
