Illegal Intruder from China Dies in Bihar Jail

 

 

Patna: A Chinese national who was arrested for entering India illegally, died on Tuesday after he allegedly made a suicide attempt at a jail in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.

The deceased identified as Li Jiaqi from China’s Shandong province was arrested on June 6 near Laxmi Chowk in the Brahmapura police station area in Bihar. He was not having valid travel documents, including Visa. A map of China, a mobile phone and currencies of China, Nepal and India were seized from his possession.

He was booked under The Foreigners Act, 1946, and was sent to jail. He was lodged at the Amar Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Prison.

On June 7, the Chinese national was found injured and unconscious in the toilet of the prison’s hospital. He had tried to cut body with broken eyeglasses.

He was immediately admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, where he succumbed to injuries on Tuesday.
