Through a late goal hit by Manvir Singh, India beat Kuwait 1-0 in their 2026 FIFA World Cup second-round qualifiers match played at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait on Thursday.
Manvir scored in the 75th minute with a left-footed shot to help India win the match. In the last part of the game, Kuwait had to lay with 10 men as their player Faisal Alharbi picked up second yellow card for a high boot challenge on Chhangte and was sent off.
India will face Asian champions Qatar on November 21 in Bhubaneswar.
India are placed in Group A alongside Qatar, Kuwait and Afghanistan. The top two teams of the group will enter the third round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. These two teams will also secure qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
India ranked 106th in the world have never entered the third round of AFC’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
