INDIA Bloc To Hold Mega Rally in Delhi On March 31 to Protest Kejriwal’s Arrest

New Delhi: The INDIA bloc has declared a large-scale rally set for March 31 at Ramleela Maidan in Delhi to denounce the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection the liquor policy. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 under the anti-money laundering law following raids at his official residence in Civil Lines.

AAP and Congress, key allies of the INDIA bloc, jointly declared the rally during a press briefing today, emphasizing the rally’s objective to safeguard democracy and national interests. Gopal Rai from AAP stated that the arrest signals a threat to democracy, accusing the ruling party of misusing governmental agencies to target opposition figures.

Arvinder Singh Lovely of Congress asserted that the upcoming rally aims to uphold democratic values and challenge the perceived authoritarian actions of the central government. Previously, INDIA bloc leaders had voiced their concerns to the Election Commission regarding Kejriwal’s arrest and alleged bias against opposition parties in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

During the meeting with the Election Commission, the INDIA bloc submitted a memorandum outlining instances of alleged central agency interference against opposition parties, alleging unfair treatment by the ruling BJP. The INDIA bloc decried what they termed as the BJP’s relentless efforts to suppress dissenting voices through unlawful means.
