India Supports UN Resolution Denouncing Israeli Settlements in Palestine

India voted in favour of a UN resolution denouncing Israeli settlements in Palestine. This resolution denounces Israel’s settlement activity in “occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Syrian Golan”.

The US and Canada were among the seven nations who voted against this resolution. Eighteen nations refrained from voting.

Earlier India abstained from voting during the UN resolution urging a “immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce” between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

More than 11,000 people have died in Gaza as a result of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which was started by the strikes on October 7. Around 200 Israelis were taken hostage and around 1,200 Israelis were killed in this Hamas attack.
