India vs Pakistan Asia Cup Match to Have Reserve Day in Case of Rain

Colombo: The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Super Four stage match will have a reserve day in case of rain. The match is scheduled to be held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, September 10.

This is the first time that a reserve day has been allocated for an India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup. The decision was made by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in order to ensure that the match is played in full, as it is one of the most anticipated matches in the tournament.

The ACC statement said: “The Asia Cup 2023 Super Four’s match between India and Pakistan on 10th September at Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo now includes a reserve day. If the Pakistan vs India game is affected by adverse weather, the match will continue on 11th September from where it was suspended.”

The decision to allocate a reserve day comes after the first round match between India and Pakistan in Pallekele was rain-affected. The match was reduced to 19 overs per side, with India winning by 5 wickets.

The ACC had explored various options to ensure a complete match for the Super Four stage encounter, including relocating the tournament to Hambantota due to persistent rain in Colombo. However, the decision was made to stick with Colombo and include a reserve day.

The India vs Pakistan match is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM IST on Sunday. The reserve day will be on Monday, September 11.
