Haryana Political Crisis: Former Dy CM Dushyant Chautala Writes To Governor, Seeks Floor Test

Chandigarh: Following the withdrawal of support by three Independent MLAs from the Nayab Singh Saini Government in Haryana, former Deputy Chief Minister and JJP MLA Dushyant Chautala has penned a letter to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. Chautala has urged the Governor to convene a session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha and conduct a floor test, citing the government’s purported lack of majority.

Chautala’s letter references Article 174 of the Indian Constitution, which deals with the summoning of the state legislature. He has stated that if the government fails to call the assembly session upon the Governor’s directions, the Governor may recommend imposing President’s rule in the state.

He noted that while the Saini Government initially secured the backing of six Independents, the withdrawal of support by three, along with the resignation of one Independent MLA, necessitates a floor test to ascertain the government’s current strength.

Despite the Opposition’s claims, the Saini government maintains that there is no immediate threat to its stability, and its leaders assert that the government will complete its full term.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party, the Congress, has intensified its efforts against the ruling coalition. The party has demanded the imposition of President’s rule in Haryana and has sought an appointment with the Governor to present their case.
