Indian Athlete Involved in Car Accident Days Before Match at Paris Olympics

Paris: Indian golfer Diksha Dagar was involved in a car accident in Paris on the evening of July 30, just ahead of her game at the Paris Olympics. Fortunately, Dagar and her family, including her father and caddie Col Naren Dagar, her mother, and her brother, sustained no severe injuries.

The accident occurred as they were returning from an event at India House.

Col Dagar confirmed that Diksha is unhurt and will participate in the upcoming Olympic golf event, scheduled to start on August 7. Despite the mishap, she is expected to continue her practice routine.

However, Diksha’s mother has been hospitalised with a suspected spinal injury and will undergo further tests to determine the extent of the damage. The accident occurred when their car, crossing an intersection as the light changed, was hit by another vehicle that was not visible due to an ambulance blocking the view.

This will be Diksha Dagar’s second appearance at the Olympics, following her T-50 finish at the Tokyo Games. The women’s golf competition will run from August 7 to August 10.

Meanwhile, the men’s competition, featuring Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar commenced today.
