IPL 2024: Rain Delays Start Of High-Stakes GT vs KKR Clash

Ahmedabad: The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) promises fireworks as the two teams come off contrasting ends of the table.

This match holds immense significance for both teams. KKR, already qualified for the playoffs, will be looking to avenge their near-defeat in the last meeting between the two sides last season. GT, languishing at number 8, require a winning streak and favourable results from other matches to reach the playoffs.

The last encounter between these sides was an instant classic. While many remember Rinku Singh’s last-over heroics with five consecutive sixes, Rashid Khan’s sensational hat-trick almost single-handedly derailed KKR’s chase.

Shubman Gill, fresh off a century in the previous match, believes his team can still pull off a miracle qualification. “We’ve seen miracles happen before,” Gill said, reflecting on the team’s past success.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the 2024 season. In their IPL history, GT holds a slight edge with two wins from three encounters.

The pitch at Ahmedabad is known for being a batting paradise. In the last match played here, GT amassed a mammoth 231 runs, with Gill himself admitting they left runs on the table. A similar batting-friendly surface is expected for this match.
