IPL 2024, GT vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Win Toss, Opt To Field Against Gujarat Titans; Check Playing XIs

Ahmedabad: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter today at the Narendra Modi, Ahmedabad.

RCB will be eager to build on their recent victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after a string of six consecutive losses. Their decision to bat first against SRH proved successful, with Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar scoring crucial half-centuries that propelled them to a commanding total of 206/7. Their bowlers, spearheaded by Swapnil Singh, Karn Sharma, and Cameron Green, then restricted the Orange Army to 171, securing a much-needed win.

Meanwhile, GT are currently placed seventh in the IPL 2024 points table. Despite flashes of brilliance, including a win against DC in their last encounter, they lack consistency. Their bowling attack faltered against the Capitals, conceding a mammoth 224/4. While batsmen Sai Sudharsan and David Miller displayed promise with scores of 65 and 55 respectively, it wasn’t enough to secure victory.

Historically, the Titans have enjoyed a slight advantage over RCB in their head-to-head battles. Out of their three meetings since 2022, GT has emerged victorious twice, with RCB winning just once. Notably, in their last encounter, a fiery Shubman Gill knock of 104 (52) propelled GT to a convincing six-wicket win over RCB in Bengaluru.

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is known for offering a fair contest between bat and ball. Scores in the range of 180 are generally considered challenging for the opposition.
