IPL 2024: KKR Vs RR and GT Vs DC Matches Rescheduled; Check New Dates and Venue

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the rescheduling of two TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches on Tuesday.

According to an official release, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, originally slated for April 17 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, will now be played a day earlier on April 16. Similarly, the fixture between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, initially scheduled for April 16 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, has been moved to April 17.

The reason behind this schedule change was not explicitly stated by the BCCI, but it is reported that it is due to the Ram Navami festival. Kolkata Police cited their inability to provide adequate security cover for the match on April 17 due to prior commitments for the festival and upcoming elections. Consequently, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) suggested alternative dates of April 16 or 18 for the Kolkata match, ultimately settling on April 16.

As of now, KKR is currently away in Visakhapatnam for a game against Delhi Capitals. The team has had a strong start to the season with two wins out of their initial two matches. Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, stand fourth in the standings with four points from three outings, having secured two wins and a loss.
