Israel Ramps Up Defences Amid Potential Iranian Retaliation Following Airstrike in Syria

Jerusalem: As tensions escalate between Israel and Iran, Israel has ramped up its defensive measures amid fears of possible retaliation following an airstrike in Syria that claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including two Iranian generals.

In a bid to safeguard against potential guided missile and drone attacks, Israeli authorities have intensified efforts to disrupt GPS navigation services across the country. This move, aimed at rendering weapons reliant on GPS unusable, has resulted in complaints from residents in areas like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, who have reported difficulties in using location-based app services.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have taken decisive action by temporarily suspending the leave of all combat units and deploying forces along Israel’s borders. Additionally, air defence systems have been bolstered to counter any potential threats.

Amid escalating tensions, authorities are considering precautionary measures such as opening shelters in Tel Aviv, with several municipalities already taking steps to open bomb shelters. Embassies have been placed on alert or evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Local media outlets have issued advisories to the public, urging residents not to engage in panic buying or hoarding of groceries. While the situation remains tense, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to “act against Iran and its proxies, defensively and offensively,” while Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has vowed that the strike “will not go unanswered.”

As both sides tread cautiously to avoid further escalation that could lead to an all-out war, Israel remains on high alert, prepared for any potential developments in the coming days.
