Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Files Police Complaint Against ED Under SC & ST Act

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has filed a police complaint against officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking action against them under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

On Wednesday ED officials grilled Hemant Soren for the second at his residence in Ranchi in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. ED officials had questioned him in connection with the case on January 20.

As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in Ranchi as ED officials had sought extra security during the questioning of the CM.

The MLAs of the ruling JMM-led coalition reached Hemant Soren’s residence on Wednesday before he was questioned by the ED officials.

On Monday, the ED officials seized Rs 36 lakh, an SUV and some “incriminating” documents from Hemant Soren’s house in Delhi.

Hemant Soren has alleged that the actions of the ED were “motivated by political agenda”.
