Jharkhand Minister’s Secy Arrested by ED after Rs 35 Cr Cash Seizure from His Servant

Ranchi: Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary Sanjiv Lal and the latter’s servant were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday following the seizure of around Rs 35 crore cash from them.

Both were taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

On Monday, the officials of the ED raided the flat in Ranchi occupied by Lal’s domestic help Jehangir. Cash worth around Rs 32 crore cash was seized from there. The ED sleuths also seized Rs 3 crore cash from some other premises. According to sources, the total cash recovery was Rs 35.23 crore.

Jharkhand rural development minister and Congress leader Alam denied his links with the seized money and any wrongdoing on his part.
