Justice Pasayat Committee to Convene First Meeting for Ratna Bhandar Inventory on March 9

Puri: The first meeting of the high-level committee, formed by the Odisha government to oversee the preparation for the inventory of the Jagannath temple’s Ratna Bhandar (treasury), is scheduled for March 9th, 2024 in Puri.

Justice Arijit Pasayat, a former Supreme Court judge and chairman of the committee, will lead the meeting. All members of the panel, including eminent doctor Ramakanta Panda, the committee’s vice-chairperson, are expected to attend.

The committee’s primary focus will be to assess the current state of the Ratna Bhandar and supervise the preparation for a comprehensive inventory of its invaluable treasures.

Justice Pasayat will arrive in Puri on the morning of March 9th and visit the renowned 12th-century shrine before chairing the afternoon meeting.

This comes after the Orissa High Court directed the state government to establish a high-level committee to oversee the preparation for the Ratna Bhandar inventory.

Notably, the last documented inventory of the temple treasury was conducted in 1978.
