Karnataka JD(S) Defies Deve Gowada, Refuses to Ally With BJP

Bengaluru: Defying the decision taken by the party’s top brass, CM Ibrahim, the president of the Karnataka unit of the Janata Dal (S), rejected the party’s alliance with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This hits at possible division in the party as JD(S) high command including former PM HD Deve Gowda and his son HD Kumaraswamy have already preferred to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

But former Union minister, Ibrahim has clearly stated that the JD(S) would not be joining the NDA.

Ibrahim said his faction is the original JD(S) that sticks to to secular principles.

As the state president of the party, Ibrahim urged former Prime Minister Gowda not to have any alliance with the BJP in Karnataka.

Ibrahim declared that the state leadership of the JD(S) would determine their alliances in Karnataka, excluding the BJP.
