Man Ties Up Aged Mother to Electric Pole and Thrashes Her for Plucking Cauli Flower from His Field

Keonjhar: A 70-year-old woman was allegedly tied up to an electric pole and thrashed by her son for plucking a cauliflower from his farmland in Sarasapasi village of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The villagers rescued the woman and admitted her to the Basudevpur Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. Based on the statement of the woman, a case was filed against her 39-year-old son identified as Satrughna Mahanta.

Police have arrested Satrughna.

According to sources, the woman had two sons, and the elder son has died. The woman was staying alone in dire poverty following a tussle with her younger son Satrughna.

To get some money, she recently sold a cauliflower from her son’s farm to a neighbour. This irked her son, who tied her to an electric pole and thrashed her brutally on December 20.

The video and photo of the inhuman act of the son went viral on social media.
