Paris Olympics: Manu Bhaker Secures Final Berth in Women’s 10m Air Pistol

Paris: Indian shooting sensation Manu Bhaker has kickstarted the country’s campaign on a high note by securing a place in the final of the women’s 10m air pistol event. The 22-year-old displayed remarkable consistency and composure to finish third in the qualification round with an impressive score of 580-27x.

Bhaker’s journey to the final was marked by exceptional performance throughout the event. She maintained a strong grip on her nerves, consistently delivering high scores in each series. Her ability to maintain focus and execute under pressure was evident in her performance, as she showcased her world-class shooting skills.

While Bhaker shone, the day wasn’t without its challenges for the Indian contingent. Rhythm Sangwan narrowly missed out on the final, finishing 15th with a score of 573-14x. In the men’s 10m air pistol, Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema couldn’t make it to the final, finishing ninth and 18th respectively. The mixed team event also saw India falling short, with Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta finishing sixth and Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh in 12th position.

Bhaker’s qualification for the final has injected a fresh wave of optimism into the Indian camp. The young shooter, who has overcome significant hurdles in her career, including a period of contemplation about quitting the sport, has made a resounding comeback. Her journey to the Paris Olympics final is a testament to her resilience, determination, and unwavering focus.
