Meerut’s 13-Yr-Old-Boy Sends Threat Mail to Delhi Airport, Detained by Police

New Delhi: A 13-year-old boy from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh has been detained by police for allegedly sending a threat mail to Delhi airport last Tuesday. The threat mail claimed that a bomb was planted on an Air Canada flight bound for Toronto.

During interrogation, the detained boy confessed that he had sent the threat mail “just for fun” after seeing similar news on television. He wanted to test whether investigating officials will be able to trace him or not.

He created a fake email ID to send the mail from his phone using his mother’s wifi connection. After sending the mail, he deleted the email id.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office received the threat email at 10.50 pm on June 12. Because of it, the concerned flight was delayed for over 12 hours.

Delhi police have seized the mobile phone of the detained teen and he is being counselled by therapists, said police sources.
