Mentally Retarded Woman Raped, Stabbed by Inebriated Youth in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: A mentally-challenged woman was allegedly raped and stabbed on Wednesday night at Baunsiapada village under Itamati police station limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district. According to police sources, the accused was an inebriated youth of the village. He has been identified. He has absconded after committing the crime.

The victim was sleeping on the verandah of a house when the inebriated youth allegedly raped her. When she protested, the assailant stabbed her and escaped from the spot.

The victim’s family members spotted her lying in a pool of blood and immediately transported her to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.

The personnel of the Itamati police station have started an investigation into the incident. A search is on to nab the accused.
