Mohammad Shami Receives Arjuna Award, Says “Destiny Bound to Happen”

New Delhi: India’s star cricketer Mohammad Shami, who is recovering from an ankle injury, was bestowed with the Arjuna award on Tuesday by the President of India Droupadi Murmu. He was the only cricketer among the 26 sportspersons to receive the honour.

“It’s a dream come true, it’s my life’s biggest achievement, the fruit of my hard work,” said the Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer, who has 229 wickets in 64 Tests to his credit.

“No one can change your luck. If anything is decided by destiny, it is bound to happen. One must continue to work hard; it will pay off,” he said.

Shami is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He missed the recent South Africa series.
