Nandankanan Welcomes Golden-Handed Tamarin and Squirrel Monkeys as New Inmates

Bhubaneswar: Golden-Handed Tamarin and Squirrel Monkeys arrived at Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday to become its new inmates.

A pair of each species has arrived at the zoo from Hyderabad. According to the Nandankanan authorities, the newly arrived animals will be kept in quarantine for one month. After that, they will be released into enclosures.

Both Golden-Handed Tamarins and Squirrel Monkeys will surely attract visitors because of their unique looks.

They have been brought to Nandankanan as part of the animal acquisition programme for pairing single-sexed animals and for new bloodline infusion.

As per Nandankanan authorities, some more new species of animals will be added to the zoo this year.
