NHRC Seeks Action Taken Report on Mother-Daughter Walking Naked in Sundargarh

New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of Sundargarh district in Odisha to provide an action taken report (ATR) in connection with the recent incident of two women, mother-daughter, walking naked on a busy street, within four weeks.

Advocate and human rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy had approached the NHRC regarding the matter.

In his petition before the NHRC, the human rights activist elaborated on the incident of the mother-daughter duo aged about 27 and 45 walking naked on College Road, a busy area of Sundargarh town.

Sundargarh MLA Kusum Tete, who was passing through the road, had rescued them.

Tripathy had requested the NHRC to initiate measures to rehabilitate the victims along with compensation and benefits of welfare schemes.
