Normalcy Returning to Strife-Torn Bhadrak; Internet Restored

Bhadrak: Restrictions imposed by the police and the administration were relaxed as normalcy has started to return in Bhadrak district after the communal violence over a social media post on September 27.

The restrictions under Section 163 were relaxed in some areas of the district. The district administration resumed the Internet services in the district from midnight on Wednesday.

The administration is closely monitoring the social media postings from the area. The administration has cautioned of stern actions against people uploading objectionable posts.

Till now, 33 people have been arrested from different areas of the district in connection with the recent communal violence. Prohibitive measures under Section 163 continue in the district but shops and supermarkets have been allowed to remain open from 6.00 am to 9.00 pm. Movement of traffic returned to normal.

But all types of congregations and rallies have been banned.

Odisha DGP YB Khurania visited Bhadrak Town and Dhamanagar on Tuesday to review the situation in the communal violence-hit areas.
