NSE Warns Investors Against Fake Videos of NSE MD & CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan Recommending Stocks

New Delhi: The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) warned investors regarding fake videos made through deepfake technology that mimicked the NSE MD and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan.

The NSE has identified a fabricated video, circulated widely on social media platforms, that contains false statements meant to mislead investors and manipulate the stock market.

The NSE in a statement advised the investors to check NSE’s all official social media handles to check the facts.

The NSE also requested all investors to take note of the same and verify the information coming from NSE or its officials from its website www.nseindia.com as the official information.

In the press note, the NSE said, “We have observed the use of face/ voice of ShriAshishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO NSE and NSE logo in a few investment and advisory audio and video clips falsely created using technology. Such videos seem to have been created using sophisticated technologies to imitate the voice and facial expressions of Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of NSE.”

“Investors are hereby cautioned not to believe in such audio and videos and not follow any such investment or other advice coming from such fake videos or other mediums. It may be noted that NSE’semployees are not authorised to recommend any stock or deal in those stocks”, the note added.

Additionally, NSE has asked the concerned platforms to take down the objectionable videos, wherever possible.
