Nuakhai to be Observed on September 8

Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited Nuakhai festival will be observed on September 8. The Lagna or the auspicious time for the offering of Nabanna or newly harvested rice to Goddess Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur district has been finalized. It falls on September 8 this year.

The Nabanna will be offered to goddess Samaleswari between 9:35 am and 10:07 am on September 8.

The agrarian festival, Nuakhai is observed in western Odisha after the the Nabanna offering to Goddess Samaleswari. As per the traditional alamanac of Odisha, Nuakhai is observed on the fifth day of the lunar fortnight of the Bhadraba month.
