Bhubaneswar: A migrant labourer from Nuapada was allegedly beaten to death in Andhra Pradesh. The deceased, identified as Jogendra Behera, is a resident of Nuapada. The injured victim died in a train on the way to Kantabanji railway station.
It is alleged that Jogendra was critically injured in a brutal attack by a labour contractor in Andhra Pradesh. Accompanied by another labour contractor and a migrant worker, he was returning home by a train, when he breathed his last.
It is alleged that Jogendra was paid Rs 10,000 in advance by a labour contractor, who took him to Andhra Pradesh on the day of Dola Purnima to work in a brick kiln.
According to compatriots of the deceased migrant worker, they faced inhuman torture at the hands of the labour contractor in Andhra Pradesh, who confined them in a room and tortured them.
After receiving information about the incident, personnel of the Titilagarh police station seized Jogendra’s body from Kesinga railway station and started an investigation.
