Odisha JE Jumps from Terrace to Escape During Vigilance Raid, Apprehended

Bhubaneswar: Sunil Kumar Padhi, a junior engineer (JE) of RWS&S posted in Bhubaneswar preferred to escape by jumping from the terrace of his building to a side building when Odisha vigilance officials raided his residence on Thursday to unearth disproportionate assets possessed by him. He was later nabbed from his neighbour’s house, where he was hiding.

According to sources, when a vigilance team knocked at the door of his residence at Jagamara area of Bhubaneswar on Thursday morning, Padhi sensed trouble and ran to the house’s terrace. From there he jumped to the terrace of an adjoining building to flee from the spot.

Vigilance teams led by six DSPs, three Inspectors, seven ASIs and other staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar are conducting simultaneous searches at five places linked to Padhi in Bhubaneswar and Ganjam.

The raids are on at:

1) Triple-storeyed building located over plot no 500/5120, Mallick Complex, Padhi Villa, Jagamara, Bhubaneswar.

2) Market complex at Aska, Ganjam.

3) Paternal house at Sunambo Street, Aska, Ganjam.

4) House of his relative located at Bhanjnagar.

5) Office chamber of Sri Sunil Kumar Padhy, O/o EE, RWS&S, Bhubaneswar.
